Prisoner of the past

Vera, once a talented surgeon and now a pathologist is a “professional” head nurse. Her sisters weak-willed Lida, self-confident Katia, as well as kind, but too spoiled by mother, younger brother Ivan always come to Vera for advice, not to their mother, who is albeit loving, but overbearing.

Living by one work and family, Vera has put an end to her personal life. This decision has its reason. The girl does not believe in men. In the past, in front of little Vera, the father left the pregnant Alla, exchanging her for some kind of windy blonde. And Vera herself has a sad experience of relationships. Her first love was jolly fellow Vasia, he left her without explanation to marry another woman. She trusted and loved him so much…

However, time heals. And now, many years later, another one appears in Vera’s life by the name of Fedor, her colleague and best friend, an investigator of especially grave crimes. Handsome, correct, intelligent, the complete opposite of hooligan Vasia. So Vera falls in love. Being sure that her feelings are mutual, the girl wants to confess her love to him, but she does not have time. Fedor happily announces that he is marrying another and asks Vera to be a witness at his wedding.

To avoid this, upset Vera takes a vacation and returns to her hometown, to their family hotel. There she hopes to hide from all the hardships of life, to understand how to live on. But she fails to do this, because suddenly she finds out that her younger brother Ivan is involved in a criminal story. The girl he met at the club and brought to their hotel turns out to be dead in the morning. Vasia himself does not remember what happened at night. But even worse, trying to help her beloved son to avoid prison, their mother Alla, without hesitation, gets rid of the corpse. Vasia helps her in this, whom the potential mother-in-law Alla once did not tolerate.

As a result, law-abiding Vera finds herself between two fires: either to hand over her family to the police, or to cover up the people dear to her and find out who is behind this murder on her own. The situation becomes more complicated when the investigation is entrusted to Fedor, from whom Vera had no secrets until that moment.

But the worst thing is that the deeper Vera digs, the stranger, unpleasant, frankly frightening things begin to happen in their family. The girl understands that someone is behind these troubles. Someone angry, vindictive, seeking to destroy Alla’s family at any cost. Pay for their dark past, which Vera does not know about…
